You may think that the flag is what makes you and your fellow idol worshipers a country, but the bottom line is that it's the threat of the use of guns and other forms of coercive deadly violence being applied to others that has afforded flag lovers the protection they needed in order to worship a piece of cloth.
But a flag won't stop bullets, it never has and I doubt that it ever will, no matter how closely you wrap yourself in it.report abuse
But I do disagree with you, the flag is not just a symbol, it is the reason we are a country, it is why men and women fight for.

This flag worshiping is just more symbolism over substance, that's all. The next thing you'll be wanting us to do is to worship some mountain because you think your god resides up there.report abuse
I live in a town that does not have flags flying on our main streets. Yes it is at the city hall but not noticable as you drive thru town as it is other towns, Bowdoinham, Richmond, Winthrop to name a few, they proudly fly flags all year.
I challenge everyone, to show and teach respect for the flags, the military and our countryreport abuse
