BUSH CHENEY? OIL MEN YOU BET.report abuse
If the insurgency "failed in Iraq," than I assume you will support pulling out US troops in the next 24 months. Right? Because last time I looked, "failed" is in the past tense. So why would we need to keep troops there when they have their own army?report abuse
Assertions that US production will at any point in the future play a major role in total world production are the product of absolute ignorance, or an overactive imagination. Get the facts. From the oil companies, that is. Remember (again, for emphasis) - US oil production enters the world market. It is NOT kept at home for domestic use. Anyone know how to spell "free trade?"
NO ONE with any knowledge of the oil markets says that greatly increased drilling in the US would have ANY impact AT ALL on supply for years. Even McCain's advisors admit that. So you are blowing a lot of faint smoke. Very faint, in fact! If you choose to respond to this post, please do so with facts and evidence, NOT talking points!
Saudi oil fields are probably at or near their maximum pumping capacity. Don't listen to me - listen to T. Boone Pickens and read "Twilight In the Desert," written by an oilman (Simmons) who is a close personal friend of the Bush family. The author documents VERY specific data about Saudi oilfield capacity that makes it abundantly clear that we are in uncharted territory right now, and that we are not going back to lower prices - far from it! If your point is that the Saudis can rescue us if they want to, you are truly delusional. For hoping that they will, regardless of the facts on the ground. Are you suggesting that we invade Saudi Arabia too?
Republican Party talking points aside, don't hold your breath for lower prices for crude. That is, unless you want to turn blue. And I suspect that blue is just not your color!report abuse
The Saudis are determining the cost of oil right now. We are slaves to them and other producers in that region.
The insurgency failed in Iraq. The foreign fighters funded by oil money have been defeated. We aren't turning tail and running as we did in Somalia so, they are trying to crush us now economically through high oil prices.
Yes, drilling here would be cost effective and greatly reduce the price of gasoline and heating oil.
We need to silence the environmentalists by refusing to acknowledge their objections and reject their lawsuits which block us from being energy independent.
Otherwise we have two choices; have our women wear burquas or drive around in electric wheelchairs.report abuse
