Ten years is a figure the media has been sticking to because 'environmentalists' tell them it's so.

Facts are that in areas where exploration has been conducted and the water is shallow enough the oil will flow within 1 year.

Another point this paper and most of it's left wing readers cling to is the impact on pristine places, upsetting the natural balance, potential for destruction of habitat.

Give me a break! For decades there has been no talk about the desert eco-systems that Saudi drills in. No talk of how in Nigeria for example the oil wells are in residential (very poor) areas.

Let's see how the Chinese treat the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic around Cuba when they come here to drill.

Wait 1 year for oil to flow or wait the same amount of time or longer to order your Toyota Hybrid (battery shortages)....

Will you people be calling Toyota in on the carpet two years from now demanding they give up windfall taxes ?report abuse
