Uncle Bud calling it quits. Well, the Farmingdale VFD is definately losing a very valuable asset. But I don't think he will be more than a phone call away if help or assistance is needed. Uncle Bud is married to my Dad's sister Barbara, my Dad and I visited Maine in July '06, after having moved to Florida in 1981. I tell you what, I've been Active Duty USAF for a little over 22-years now, been around the world, seen things I wouldn't wish on my worse enemy, but if I could have had a MAN like Uncle Bud beside my side, some situations probably would have been a lot less stressful!

Everyone should learn a lesson from this story, especially those under the age of 20 who think the world owe them and they owe the world nothing.report abuse

Not only does he have that high level of energy & strength at his age, he is also complete upstairs without any mind loss (dimentia, etc.) Usually at that age people lose either one or the other (the body & mobility, or their mind goes). Neither have happened to him.
Not only was he the longest standing member on the Farmingdale Fire Department, but he is also still the town's plumbing & sewer inspector.
Plus he will lend a helping hand to anyone in need, whether it be cutting & splitting wood, a carpentry project, or a number of other skills he has, without ever expecting or asking for anything in return. He is a pure asset to the community!report abuse
