Wanted to comment earlier but each time I started to read the article, I fell asleep.

Maybe someone can pickup a story with things that actually appeal to real parents instead of spoiled brats who only want to waste their parents money on useless stuff.

Flying disc alarm clock? Gimme a blessed break. Why not just buy me a busted landscape paver from Home Depot?report abuse

Fattubbo, there are SO many wonderful fathers. Men today spend so much more time with their babies & growing children than my father's generation did. Everywhere I look, I see men taking care of the babies (church, theme parks, restaurants, parks, etc). I, too, hope fathers will get the respect they've EARNED. Good fathers are the role models children need....boys to grow up and be like them and girls to pick boyfriends and husbands like them.

When I asked my husband if he had anything special in mind (from the 2 kids), he said he'd just like a special day as a family. Then he added, "Please, no tie!" I have learned (over the years) NOT to give computer games; otherwise, we don't see him after a long day at the office:)report abuse

I have a better idea. Why not give fatherhood in general a little respect? Why not celebrate the joys and the great things a father brings into the life of a child? Why not celebrate the strength and balance a father brings into the marriage?

OOPS! Sorry. This is 2008. Instead, we'd all rather look at fathers as being like Homer Simpson. We portray fathers as being inept and stupid, like in some of the Fidelity commercials. We vilify the father as being a potential predator if he takes his child out to the park to play.

I do hope that my daughter's generation tries to turn things around. If not, then I hope my grand-daughter's generation gets the job done. Maybe at some point in time, fathers ill once again become a respected member of the family and the community.report abuse
