Well, the supposed purpose of government is to establish justice, insure tranquility, provide for our mutual defense, promote our common welfare, and secure to ourselves and our posterity the blessings of liberty, acknowledging with grateful hearts the goodness of the Sovereign Ruler of the Universe in affording us an opportunity, so favorable to the design; and, imploring God's aid and direction in its accomplishment, do agree to form ourselves into a free and independent State, by the style and title of the State of Maine and do ordain and establish the following Constitution for the government of the same.

But since all of the signers of that document are now dead and buried, who's running the show now? Not the free and independent State mentioned above, but rather a replacement, de-facto government called the STATE OF MAINE. And does it live up to its supposed purpose for its establishment? Not really, which is why the agents of State and Federal governments hold the people in such contempt and disdain whenever their honesty or accuracy is called into question.

No group of people has the authority to vote away the rights of another man and still claim to retain those rights for themselves. If his rights are subject to loss or abrogation, so are theirs.report abuse

People follow so blindly to all of the government's 'rules' and over 2/3 of the population don't vote, that government feels it can do whatever it wants - and does so.

One day it will be to our peril . . .report abuse
