Bunni,

There is no age limit.
Why not retire and go back and teach?
New State laws allows this(to those grandfathered in) and you get both pay checks.report abuse

If they wanted to keep teaching, why retire?? Is there an age limit on how old a teacher has to be before they are not allowed to teach?report abuse

Hermann, you assume a burned out teacher wouldn't want to return to teaching. I assure you MANY do. I have taught beside teachers who simply wanted paychecks. Many bragged about their summers off when they could work other jobs or vacation. There are MANY excellent teachers, but like any profession there are lousy employees as well. I have worked with those close to retirement who suddenly realized they don't have the savings/benefits they will need to take them thru those "golden years." I would venture to guess there are some who decide to return to the workforce after retirement for that very same reason. But you are correct; I have no way of knowing why the arbitrator ruled against these two women. I wish the article had provided more info. I still believe that "age discrimination" is not the appropriate claim for them.report abuse

incidently..what follows is the summing of a logical misquote relating to those who understand mispellings..the last word is gorilla..rhyming in parking lot...call the cops...the gorilla recently had a heart transplant by the late doctor barnard (and so on)...the rest is supposed to be, like romeo and juliet on the veranda, in need of a monkey wrench or something...report abuse
