This article (below) is for YOU, Mebabyboomer. It will tell you who is giving in time, talent and money. Surprise...it ain't who you apparently think it is! Why is it that people think that raising taxes to create more social programs helps people. Many social programs DO help, but when you create so many and require so little, you make people weak. You make them dependent. The last thing people need is to become dependent upon big govt. And when govt gets too big & overspends, the people who DO give (voluntarily) get frustrated and angry and begin to close their wallets. Jobs stimulate an economy. And the stats show that states w/ the lowest taxes (on businesses) are best for its citizens. Bring jobs in and people work. Give people a way to feed their families and they feel good about themseles. They don't need big govt. That's the problem; big govenment WANTS them to be dependent. They want to keep their jobs. They want their friends to keep their jobs. I have worked in state & local govt and have seen the waste and abuse. I have (and currently do) volunteer (food pantry, nursing home & migrant program). I am a hardcore conservative and I am 100% against illegal immigration and high taxes. Taxes get passed onto the working poor who can least afford to pay them. Democrats don't seem to understand that. They THINK they are helping people, but they are harming them. They are also breaking them emotionally and making them weak and dependent. Maine was once a small-govt, independent, hard-working state of proud people. Those people still exist, but many are fed up and many have left. Now read the article before you sound foolish again...

redfish,

It's ~TheKid to you!

And the only mental disorder I could possibly be suffering from, is that I still make my own in this world and don't depend on a government to provide for my life.

How crazy is that!report abuse

I think its good that we help thoose in need in any state. And i think the state of Maine aut to geve thekid a little help ,about 18 years worth of Seroquel may help. Now as far as the dinner.I think all that attend should fast for two days and be served just after the topic of the meeting childhood hunger has been completed. They then would have real time understanding of how hard it is to pay attention to the task at hand.To understand how hard it is for the young to study with hunger pangs.report abuse

MEBabyBoomer,

Aww I'm here under contract.

And you're right majority rules.

NAMI in Augusta reports that they service over 30% of Maine's population with free mental health care.

Then add in everyone else receiving all the other benefits that are available statewide and I'm sure we get to a number over 50%.

So you're right, majority rules.

But what happens if everyone that's not happy left, and took their state income tax payments with them?

And for the record, my life (financial and personal) is great, but it could always be better.

Of course, my hard work just goes to help the people who don't work at all.

I'll be fine after the summer when I can declare residency in NH after my wedding to a lesbian for tax credits.

Then I will no longer be legally responsible for the "Use Tax".

Life is good.report abuse
