Nonny1, I know the family who owned and ran the Capitol City Motel. They are the nicest people you'd ever want to know, and they would NEVER allow the motel to be used for "other (more devious) purposes" as suggested by your comment.report abuse

Thanks for the link, Blackacre. I shall use it tonight when I have more time. And I do understand what you are saying; I still don't agree with it. I bleieve the family of Mr. Cony should have the final word in interpreting what Mr. Cony meant. That would be the moral thing for the city to have allowed since the land was a GIFT.
The property didn't have to be used for a 'high school" to fulfill Mr. Cony's stated wishes, but a supermarket on the property by no means honors what he intended. And intent is everything.

Oh, no Deb; the "ugly motel" is gone? I must have walked past that a million times. I don't think I ever knew anyone who ever stayed at that motel; I always wondered if it was used for other (more devious) purposes;)report abuse

Remember how Bridgeo had informed us that Hannaford would absorb the costs of modernizing and revamping Stone street? Guess what kiddies? That aint gonna happen either. He pulled the wool over your eyes again. I suspect that before Bridgeo leaves office he will have put into motion a plan to rename Capital park to Bridgeo Park and he'll erect a well-deserved monument of himself there for all the pigeons to enjoy.report abuse
