Wow, took you a while Larry. Seems that you have to comment on every story involving the MFD. And of course, as in every comment your facts are wrong...

First, every truck in the MFD fleet uses the 80 series as a Radio number, not as what it's callled, they are all lettered with a single number. Check your facts...

Secondly, the closest PORTABLE air system is outside of lewiston... and yes prior to this we did have to bring air bottles to the station to fill. As commented in a prior article the yellow truck you mention has not been able to safely carry the air system since 2004!

If you are so against this modern fire truck, why didn't you show up at the six months or more of public town meetings where it was discussed, refined and finally approved. Its really easy to sit back and be a Monday morning quarterback and criticize from the privacy of your computer screen.report abuse

Give me a break!!! Did you hurt your shoulder patting yourself on the back there chief?? Did you see any other Fire Departments calling the KJ for an ego article when they got new trucks? Ummm no! By the way, Winthrop did NOT need this truck to respond to THEIR call and they were not very impressed with this big waste of tax dollars that couldn't even maneuver around the scene. The reason nobody else has one of these things is because it's NOT NEEDED! And to quote "Before the department had the new air-bottle system, firefighters had to shuttle back and forth from the station to replenish their breathing apparatus. The closest portable compressor was in a town near Lewiston." Are you trying to tell me that while at the scene of a fire that the firefighters had to go to a town "near lewiston" to fill their bottles??? NO! This is a crock of ****! What was that yellow fire truck being used for that had the air bottle filler on it that was on the fire scenes? Yea that's right, filling their breathing apparatus! Can't you people see this is a snow job! There are other towns other than "near Lewiston" that can fill air bottles too, so again, this "hero" truck is not needed! Not to mention, that it's only YOUR minion firefighters who are pleased to have the truck at their disposal. The mutual aid towns don't want it since it's of no use to them and they aren't impressed by this self made ego boost. I also find it interesting how it's named "squad 3" when the rest of the trucks are of the 80 series??? Hmmm, seems like someone can't play by his own rules, interesting... Isn't it you mr. poulin who credits yourself with this radio numbering system and now you decide that the all mighty you can just change the rules of the game??? Yea, typical! Maybe this truck will be around for another 35 years, maybe, but I guarantee you won't! You have wasted our money long enough and now it's time for you to go!report abuse
