Attention Kennebec Journal/Morning Sentinel Employees:

ATTENDANCE DOESN'T MATTER!

Your bosses just said it in their editorial page, so no doubt there will soon be a new company-wide policy reflecting this. If you want to skip work to go to a baseball game or raise money for your favorite cause, go right ahead. As long as it's less than 10% of your work this year, you can be absent without any reason or explanation and not be looked upon negatively by the company.

No wonder the papers are losing circulation and being sold.

What, you say? That's NOT company policy, and it shouldn't be? Oh, then we have a new name for your bosses, KJ/MS employees. I'll give you a hint: it starts with a HYPO and ends in CRITE.

Unless the company also gives their employees 9% of the year off without criticism or complaint, that's what they are. That translates into slightly more than a month's worth of furlough days per year. Take that cruise you've always been wanting to take. Follow the Sox or your favorite band around for a while. As long as you do a good job when you're there, and don't top that 10% mark, you can skip work for any reason whatsoever. Have fun!report abuse

That this editorial writer believes that one's attendance record in a high school chemistry class matters but the attendance record of a member of Congress does not shows that the writer is either a pawn for the Allen campaign or is shockingly ignorant of the gravity of the issues that Maine people have entrusted their representatives in Congress to grapple with. Nothing could be more serious or require a representative’s full attention and commitment than health care, education and national security. Perhaps the writer was chronically absent from high school civics and thus didn’t consider this point.report abuse

Still beating this dead horse, are we?

No embedded links, re: voting *records* of Allen & Collins?

Oh, that might take less than two minutes via Google (vs. spin cycle); and actually *inform* readers.

Horrors.

Gerald,,

anon probably doesn't need to keep a resume, since he/she is a reliable worker. Think about it...report abuse
