I recently had a chance, unexpectedly, to ride in the front of a rescue -- Delta Ambulance -- out of Augusta....

Ok, i have gone over this issue before and told Maine ambulence personnel, Maine firefighters, AND MAINE POLICE OFFICERS what to do with vehicles that will not pull over for emergency vehicles.

Maine people including public and civil servants are a tad slow to learn, so here is what to do...again. PAY ATTENTION.

Obviously an emergency vehicle/police cruiser on an emergency call can not pull over vehicles that will not pull over for you. So you emergency personnel ,officers need a pen/pad of paper available or better yet a small voice recorder available(they go for $5 now). You write down or record the license plates of vehicles that will not pull over. After the emergency is over have the local/state police send out tickets to the vehicle owners.

So now ambulence, firefighters, police officer drivers, PRINT out a copy of this post, post it on your dashboard so you can read it next time you see encounter vehicles that will not pull over.

Any other Maine problems need solving??report abuse

I have a 18 year old daughter who recently came home and spoke of this very issue. She was appalled over how many people did not stop or pull over when emergency people needed them to. I was very proud of her to notice this. It is a very serious issue, as well as for those who drive bus. I have in the last year seen so many people who do not stop for buses. That could be anyones little boy or girl who get injured or killed by senseless driving. It's time for drivers to know it it a privledge to drive on the Maine road, and when you abuse that privledge you should loose that privledge!!report abuse

Don't forget that after stopping for an ambulance or other EMS vehicle, other emergency units could be coming along shortly, going to the same incident.

It is the law, and there is no excuse. Pull over, and come to a complete stop.report abuse
