I live in an existing Subdivision in China and I assure you that the Town of China realizes a significant increase in income due to our existance. With more than 25 residences the money collected from us is substantial. We recieve a big fat zero from the Town of China in the form of assistance because we are privately owned and operated. That means that no town vehicles are allowed to travel our road and no school bus travels our road to pick up our children. The deduction in my property taxes for living on a private road is miniscule compared to the property tax I curerently pay to help maintain all the public roads in China. In addition to that I get to pay for maintenance on my own road also.

Sweet deal eh?report abuse

China is a development hungry town. It has gotten worse over the last few years. Could it be because two members on the board are lawyers and or developers? At the rate the town is allowing these developments there will be NO fields or wood lots left in 10 years.report abuse

No more developments! They do not add profit to anyone's pockets except for a few. Taxes gathered from residents do not compensate for road maintenance, increases in school enrollment, lengthier bus rides for students and larger numbers of people living longer distances from major service areas. The toll on society is already large; we need to stop making development profitable for a few individuals and costly to towns.report abuse
