So let me get this straight....Maine can't afford to go along with Federal guidelines to speed depreciation writedowns for business equipment......but Maine CAN afford to spend for social welfare benefits far above Federal limits.

Anybody else see something wrong with this?report abuse

uh-Hello--Baldacci created PINE tree Zones and then expanded them ---these are totally tax free zones for business-----NO income tax, no property tax , no sales tax...so long as they DO create jobs. Meaning a decrease in revenue to the state explaining our on going revenue deficits--- that the rest of us have to fill. He also eliminated the personal property tax on business equipment ---totally eliminated IT. Meaning less revenue to the municipalities that the rest of us have to pay for --increasing OUR property taxes.
And the last time bush's tax cut reduced the property tax on business equipment, Maine busineses could and DID double dip....meaning LESS revenue for the state increasing and explaining the state deficit... state income tax doesn't follw federal guidleines for the rest of us--- why should Business be any different???
And we the taxpayers provide over 70 million a year in BETRE funds for BIG Business.

STOP whining about how anti Business Maine is. It could get a lot worse!!!!!!I'm so tired of MY taxes going up, so theirs can go down!!!with NO new jobs to show for it...report abuse
