A couple of things in this story worry me, first why would China want to provide more access to China Lake? It will only bring more boats from away, more noise and a greater chance of getting millfoil contamination in the lake. The Town is re-assessing shore front property currently to get more money from lake shore property owners. Why would the Town also want to place the value of that same cash cow property in jeopardy from more vehicle traffic lowering the quality of life and peaceful use of the property?

Secondly I ask again why didn’t the Town offer to buy the property next to the Town Office when the asking price of the previous owner was less than $35,000.00? For the Town to offer $81,500.00 for the property now seems to be offering a lot of money for two acres and an old barn. What is the current valuation of the property for taxes?report abuse

It's a shame that one person can can make the select board of China change it's mind and remove two articals from the warrent that goes to the printers the day before so the people can't see what the select board is doing and be able to vote on it. Shame Shame on them.report abuse
