Should we stop booking national acts at the civic center to give the local garage bands a chance? There are plenty of summer concert series, churches, gazebos, gymnaziums for local musicians and groups to play. I am sure if you talk to the local musicians they will welcome and look forward to the performace - and be inspired to strengthen their own local groups after seeing such a performance. cranky-yank of ME It's sad that Maine has to import musicians rather than support the musicians who already reside here. While I fully the support the concept that brining in outside performing groups can go a long way towards fostering musical growth in the area, it is disappointing when the area can barely support all volunteer communty groups, let alone provide any support for a local, professional, symphonic ensemble.report abuse
