I think an event like this is actually opposite of what Cranky thinks. To bring a world class floating event to Maine is good for everyone. Should we stop booking national acts at the civic center to give the local garage bands a chance? There are plenty of summer concert series, churches, gazebos, gymnaziums for local musicians and groups to play. I am sure if you talk to the local musicians they will welcome and look forward to the performace - and be inspired to strengthen their own local groups after seeing such a performance. So rejoice CrankyYankee - the more good music in the state the better the music scene in the state will be in my book.report abuse

It's sad that Maine has to import musicians rather than support the musicians who already reside here. While I fully the support the concept that brining in outside performing groups can go a long way towards fostering musical growth in the area, it is disappointing when the area can barely support all volunteer communty groups, let alone provide any support for a local, professional, symphonic ensemble.report abuse

I cannot wait to see this floating ensemble!
This sounds like it will be quite an event.
What an inspiration this could be to the youngsters in the area who have an ineterest in music.
Heck,it will be inspirational to those of any age!report abuse
