I have a good idea. Why don't we put a huge billboard up right next to the cellphone tower. Motorola or Unicel -- something like that. After all, two minute cell-phone conversations seem to be much more important than trees.report abuse

Manchester and Readfield are black holes when it comes to cell service and most experience this the minute they dive down the west side of Pelton Hill.

Asthetics? you mean like the abandoned concrete foundation, grave yard and a couple of wood frame structures...come on.

"The hill" is a logical site. Tower up, honey bees and all.report abuse

Laura of Winthrop says:
They are actually looking into these towers and the radiation being a factor in the reduced numbers of honey bees.

FYI, bees have been dying off by mites when they started importing and exporting them to southern states in the winters as far back as the late 70's, maybe even before.report abuse

I guess some people won't be satisfied until they cover every square mile in the country with those amazingly UGLY metal towers. Every time I see one, I am reminded of H.G. Wells' WAR OF THE WORLDS.

It's hard to have any simpathy for those who lose coverage while driving on Route 202 (or anywhere else), having been nearly run into (as a motorist) or run down (as a pedestrian) on more than one occasion by some idiot gabbing away on a cellphone while driving. When will these morons learn to pull off the road if they absolutely have to make or receive a call?report abuse
