Not well published by the State of Maine is that anadromous fish had access to Sebago Lake historically and in the latter 1800's. Fish ladders would have admitted all including lamprey. Those record "landlocked salmon" and those 30 pounders speared on the tributaries were ocean salmon. In addition the resident landlock population was healthy. Forage fish were plentiful. It would be worthy for more comment on the changes to the fisheries from the unnatural regulation of our lakes and rivers.report abuse
