As a part-time resident of Maine and particularly in Maine, with the high level of taxation, we all better pray that Social Security Trust Fund somehow stays afloat. Otherwise, guess who is going to pay to support all the individuals that become unable, for all kinds of various reasons, to work and without any financial support. Disabilities for one and all the many medical benefits this huge group of baby boomers are going to need. Yet can bet, we will be paying and supporting that with substantialy higher taxes all around. More Sales taxes, Property taxes, Federal taxes, State Taxes, taxes on food, higher gasoline taxes, proberly even in some areas, Municipal taxes. Oh man, it's endless. You can bet those savings that we all consider safe, they (government) will find a way to help deplete them much quicker then you think,if we don't keep this or some system in place.

Again, without a plan for all, we will pay. Don't kid yourself.report abuse

I'm a baby boomer....and apparently a lot smarter than Bob Lorenz. You see, I already KNOW that the Social Security Trust Fund is empty....squandered by Republicans AND Democrats in Washington. I also know that entitlements are the largest Federal outlay...and growing exponentially. I know this burden will bankrupt the Federal government in my lifetime....sooner in my lifetime if all of the social programs being promised in this election are enacted.

So, I've planned. You can "expect more" if you want to, but prepare to be disappointed. The SSTF is empty, the SS pyramid scheme will collapse as more boomers retire and the young rebel under the incredible tax burden they will be facing.

If you have any brains, you will plan, save, get out of debt NOW and prepare to support yourself. If you don't, prepare to work until you die...the government is NOT going to be there with "more".

Ignorance and denial are alive and well.report abuse

I'd vote for ANYBODY I thought could bring some sense to the unbridled idiocy that is state government in Augusta. Heck, I'd vote for anyTHING at this point.....maybe Otto the Moose from the car ads would consider running....he could hardly do worse.report abuse

Kid - I didn't ask for her welfare history, I asked why you didn't report her for the alleged regular quarter-pound pot use. Someone who smokes that much weed cannot possibly take care of themselves, let alone kids.report abuse
