Predictions on the casino?
The latest polls show a very close call on Question 2, which would allow a casino to open in Oxford County.
Both sides have made their final arguments in recent weeks, with casino backers promising good-paying jobs and money to state government.
On the other side, CasinosNO! has raised several issues about what the bill actually says and what the company plans to do. They've brought out high level opponents, such as former Gov. Angus King.
What do you think of Question 2 on Tuesday's ballot? Will it bring good jobs to Maine or send good money to Las Vegas?
This is another issue our Leadership in Maine should have dealt with head on . By turning their backs , we again have to vote on a bill that my not be in the best interest for Maine.
Had the gambling saga been worked out in our house , the Maine people would be getting what is best for the state . Had the state bid out two licences , Maine may have had millions up front to help out our general funds with money from afar.
Much like many issues in Maine , again our leadership has failed us . Whether one likes the facts or the lies , gambling is a part of "the way life should be" . And now we will have , including Bangor another casino in our state .
Not to mention our backs again are turned against the people who gave MAINE THE BEST DEAL yet . With the treaty with Maine , our Native American again has been forgotten .

Get real with the Indian garbage. There isn't a soul on earth responsible for their mistreatment. We are all in this together, don't rationalize bigotry in any form.

Mainers needs to get with the "program". There are 30+ other states that allow gambling with millions going to their budgets each and every year, why not us. I'm voting yes!!!

I love how people spout off! The Maine Constitution allows citizens to bring laws before the people without the legislature interfering. This bill on the ballot was written by Seth Carey of Rumford. He came up with all these crazy ideas - like lowering the gambling age, etc, he wrote a bill, got the 50,000+ signatures and got it on the ballot.
A that point, the "leadership" or the legislature had only three constitutional options. 1) pass the bill as is 2) reject it which automatically sent it to voters or 3) put a competing measure on the ballot.
so, in reality, they couldn't have "fixed" this bill. this is part of Maine's Democratic process.
In the end, i think this will be close because of our economy but won't pass because it is such a stupid bill.

My point says nothing about fixing this bill or any other. But introducing a bill created by our own leadership.
What I believe is our Maine leadership should have addressed the gambling issue first hand.
Like many states, thier leadership has introduced gambling with the states best interest first.
I believe there are some issues that our elected , should lead ...
I also believe our "leadership" has failed again.
As I recall , I didn't vote on the allowing Maine State lottery or Powerball . And yes Djack the bills can be fixed , much like the referendum in Bangor.
So here we are again , working out another issue with gambling. And I can assure you, another will be coming soon...

I'm not opposed to the Casino in Maine, never have been - I do however, feel strongly that it is a slap in the face to Maine Native American Indians if this passes - when they have tried so hard to have this opportunity and the voters keep turning them down.

I believe it should be up to the residents of Oxford county to decide. But since it's a state wide vote I would love to know how many preachers in areas of maine hours from Oxford county stood up in the pulpit this morning and exclaimed " The devil is trying to come to Maine!!! Protect your children. Your daughter is a vote away from selling her body to play poker. Your son is a vote away from,, well,, selling his sister to play black jack. Sign up with my wife for a ride to the polls."
Nobody gets out the vote like a rural preacher.
ps I already voted yes

Now why wouldn't the casino pass this time . There is no opposition , accept the lone Casino-No hypocrisy ...
What happened to all the no's ...
