Allen proposes town halls

U.S. Rep. Tom Allen, D-Maine, today proposed a series of four town hall meetings in August with his opponent Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine.

Allen says he wants the meetings to focus on the economy, energy prices, health care and Iraq, according to a statement from his campaign.

Allen proposed a series of four of town hall meetings with the following schedule:

7 p.m., August 7, Biddeford
7 p.m., August 14, Rockland
7 p.m., August 15, Ellsworth
7 p.m. August 19, Skowhegan

Kevin Kelley, a spokesman for the Collins campaign, said she will be glad to debate in the fall.

"Senator Collins is looking forward to a series of debates around the state this fall when all of the candidates in this race will be able to discuss the issues that are important to those of us who live in Maine," he said.
