DeChant chosen as Superdelegate
The Democratic State Committee on Sunday chose Jennifer DeChant of Bath as a Superdelegate, replacing Rita Moran of Winthrop.
DeChant had been the Democratic National Committeewoman for three years when she missed three consecutive meetings, partly due to a difficult pregnancy. The committee then voted to replace her with Moran, a Kennebec County activist and local bookstore owner.
But some on the committee called for a do-over, and on Sunday, decided to reinstate DeChant to the position, said party executive director Arden Manning.
DeChant has yet to declare support for either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.
Hmm . . . Ms. DeChant likely voted in a caucus, barring her pregnancy. In an effort of transparency, Ms. DeChant should indicate who she voted for in the Maine Caucus--good reporting could also likely find this info out (many people in Bath know). I daresay that once Obama supporters (and yes I am one) get wind of this, the rallying will begin . . .

Since when does a committee such as this allow "do-overs"? Sounds like the rule is 3 meetings missed and you're out; plain and simple. How could committee members not be privy to a vote that would be occurring? and it seems to me that if you choose not to show up for a meeting, regardless of the agenda, then the people who DO show up get to make the decisions for that meeting. They voted; Rita was in. Again, plain and simple. I wonder if a new election would have been deemed necessary if Ms. Moran was a Hillary supporter like Ms. DeChant? The whole thing sounds hokey to me. Politics as usual. Bet this won't be the last you hear of it....

MESSAGE TO SUPERDELEGATES
"To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
An eternity in an hour."

Blue to white flowers bloom in the mountain sun of West Virginia. Bright yellow beams from the center. See the carpet of baby blue in a mountain walk this Mother’s Day. Release the endorphines in your brain -Superdelegates end the Democratic Party Pain.
With the Blue Grass of Kentucky under your feet, keep the heart and spirit of Eight Belles alive.

I hope the superdelegates vote their conscious and do not allow many mis-run caucuses in Maine to overpower their voting power. Go Hillary. I certainly expect the person with the most votes cast for him/her to be our nominee. Please, not another "Gore" fiasco. I also hope our Maine superdelegates hurry up and get on board for Hillary . . .don't wait and see what everybody else does. Act now and act responsibly.

So what's the hold up this late into the game? This delegate (like Michaud) is an indecisive, whimp.

I spent 3 hours at my very first caucus in February. It was NOT mis-run and it did not exclude ANYONE - contrary to the Clinton campaign. In fact the vast majority of the 350 people (I live in Harpswell) there were senior citizens and the majority of them were in Obama's corner! So please stop with this nonsense of the process being unfair. And Ms. DeChant- please publicly endorse. We need a candidate so we can begin to unite our party and defeat McCain in Nov. Not to mention- gaining seats in the house and senate! Let's move on to the general election!!!
