Maine's Ron Paul fans get organized
Two local Ron Paul supporters said this week that they are standing by their man — and they definitely want him to stay in the race as a Republican.
Paul, the Texas congressman running on a presidential platform of freedom, is in single digits in most polls heading into the start of the primary and caucus season next month.
But Nancy Lawrence of Augusta and Robert Wallace of Farmingdale say they don’t believe the polls or the main stream media when it comes to the presidential election.
“You can’t go by the news media,” Wallace said. “They are fixing the percentages.”
Wallace thinks Paul will get the Republican Party nomination and said he does not want him to switch to a third party candidate. The Libertarians have expressed interest in Paul, and others think he would do well to run on his own.
Lawrence said she and other local supporters are political “newbies” who plan to be involved this time around.
A group of about a dozen Kennebec County Ron Paul supporters meet each week, and they are growing, she said.
“He’s going to surprise a lot of people,” she said. “Thank God for the Internet.”
Another Ron Paul fan, Mark Durgin of Woolwich, posted his comments in support of the candidate at the bottom of Monday’s On Maine Politics blog.
He points to a $6 million fundraising day for Paul on Sunday as proof that he’s a legitimate candidate ready to fight.
And Maine Republican Party Executive Director Julie O’Brien has said on at least two occasions in recent months that Paul supporters are well organized in the state and that she wouldn’t be surprised if caucus-goers here throw a lot of support behind him.
Maine Republicans will caucus Feb. 1, 2, and 3.
Ron Paul has my vote.

I don't think you can really trust the polls that are so often quoted regarding republican candidates. The polling lists are based on republican voters who voted in 2004 in an election year with an incumbent candidate George W Bush. There are so many Ron Paul supporters who are newly registered voters that I think there will be a lot of surprises in the caucuses and primaries. Ron Paul represents the America that I grew up learning about in school.

The only ones that are going to be surprised by Ron Paul winning the nomination are the people who get their information from Old Media. Ron Paul supporters and the people trying to hide Ron Paul's support won't be surprised in the least.

Another Maine Ron Paul vote here. I've been a walking billboard lately - Ron Paul t-shirt, Ron Paul pin on my hat, Ron Paul DVDs in my pocket, Liberty Dollar chocolates in my hand.

Ron Paul's only chance is at the local PRECINCT CONVENTION. This is the hidden key. Check your state rules, register Republican, and ALSO register as a delegate (seperate application form). THEN attend your local PRECINCT CONVENTION. This in February in North Carolina and announced 10 days prior in the newspaper. - see how the delegates origins are at the Precinct Convention level? and easily 'missed' by unaware voters?
This local Precinct Convention is three full months before our State Convention in May. This is where ALL of your state's delegates originate from.
So if you want Ron Paul you MUST participate in the local Precinct Convention to be competitive in reality.
Im just learning this now so i hope the early states get in on their Precinct Convention because
In the end, the popular vote is meaningless - the final Delegates at the National Convention choose the Republican nominee.

you folks in Maine are gonna have to deal with this also:
Most states use what is termed the short ballot, in which a vote for one party (such as Democratic or Republican) is interpreted as a vote for the entire slate of Presidential Electors. In these states, with rare exceptions, one party wins the entire electoral vote of the state (by either plurality or majority). Maine and Nebraska choose Presidential Electors using what is termed the Maine Method, which makes it possible for the voters to choose Electors of different political parties and split the electoral vote of these two states.
good luck!

Go Ron Paul!
I have one concern. A lot of college students are rallying behind Ron Paul, but have not yet registered to vote. Let's make sure they are eligible to support our candidate in the primaries. Remind them to register!

The media has proven time and time again that they will get it wrong. Its almost as if some of them are determined to get it wrong. The national polls are also wrong. Ron Paul hasthemost wide spread support which is why he continues to outpace all other Republicans in fundraising.

The OM (Old Media, i.e., Fox, et al) has been discounting Dr. Paul's candidacy from the get-go. The OM will do everything in their power to supress info on Dr. Paul. I just read recently that Pat Buchanan may have been the winner during his candidacy as president but unscrupulous characters rigged the election results by devising a software program that reverses individual votes to a certain percentage giving the opposing party to win. I believe some OM and other big name companies were involved. The point here is if we want to ensure a fair electoral process, we must stand on guard in every polling place. Further, as we speak, from what I understand some 50 states are being sued for the current computerized voting machines which are being utilized. The computer can easily get rigged by downloading a program. Back in the days, we used "boleta". Paper ballots dropped in a padlocked metal box. The boxes remain visible for everyone to see and not to be taken anywhere. These boxes are also guarded by the local police. Counting is done manually and held publicly by the election officials and observed by all the candidates' representatives as well as the voting public. This is tedious task but like the Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White said, "for as long as it takes until we counted the last ballot".

Folks,
Please get connected into the network of Ron Paul supporters we are building across the State.
Information can be found here:

for folks who are "newbies" to the process.
There are several meetup groups around the State for those interested to join.

I know some of you mean well, but it would be helpful if only Maine residents responded here and this didn't turn into the usual rantings. The Maine GOP has provided detailed caucus info on MaineGOP.com. As long as all of us are in touch with our county GOP we'll know what's going on with becoming delegates. County GOP email contacts are also posted on MaineGOP.com - specifically:

The polls are definitely inaccurate. I was polled and Ron Paul was never mentioned as an option. It is completely rigged. Thankfully I woke up and realized that the MSM (mainstream media) is infotainment and not reliable information.
On the 6+ million dollars raised in one day (record breaker) ... here is what is amazing ... it came from individual donors not corporate funds or special interest groups or PACs. This alone should send shock waves through Washington on both sides of the isle.
It's not about Ron Paul, it's about Ron Paul's message. Freedom is indeed contagious.

It's Huckabee's view that religion and state are inseparable. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Huckabee
Then again, I suppose that's what some people actually want... He's another heavy taxer. I'm broke enough as it is.. Dr. Paul's the only one with a sound plan to straighten out this country's nonsensical spending practices by getting rid of the greatest fraud of the century; the Federal Reserve, and bringing our troops home from all over the world. STOP SHOVELING DEBT ONTO OUR KIDS' DOORSTEPS BY BORROWING FROM OTHER COUNTRIES to FUND UNJUST WARS. Don't let someone win your vote just because they seem likable. So many people are only concerned about same sex marriages and abortion, WAKE UP. How can we condemn Islamic extremists who want religion controlling their politics while voting for the Christian version here? Vote for what matters - the war and foreign policy in general, the economy, our personal FREEDOM, and the survival of this country!
