Brunswick bridge maintenance begins
The Frank J. Wood Bridge connecting Brunswick and Topsham on Route 201 may be the site of some traffic backup tonight.
Starting at 6 p.m., one lane of the bridge will be shut down so crews from the Maine Department of Transportation can perform maintenance. The lane will remain closed until 6 a.m. and the work should last until Saturday night, Maine DOT officials said.
Flaggers will be on hand to direct traffic.
Bridge work in the mid-coast region has been prevalent in the past few months. In addition to the Frank J. Wood Bridge undergoing some maintenance work, the Lunts Hill Road Bridge near Litchfield is in the final stages of being renovated, as it has had some new bridge beams installed.
Driver safety has been at the forefront of the bridge projects. The Lunts Hill project has even had state police directing traffic overnight to ensure driver protection.
What are your thoughts on the bridge work in Litchfield, and Brunswick and Topsham? Has traffic been nightmare? Or have the flaggers made the commute much easier?
Tell me what you think.
